This unique 30 x 40 x 1.5" white peony oil painting on canvas, captures the mysterious beauty of this backlit still life.  When I have a beautiful flower arrangement, I will photograph it over several days in locations throughout the house, at different times of the day and find a few of the most beautiful photos for reference for a future painting. I loved the interesting and unusual angle of this piece, as if bending to smell the gorgeous fragrance of the peony blossoms. The traditional view of a flower arrangement in paintings is usually directly from the side but I always strive to create an unusual view of my subject.
